I had my first book “event” a couple of days ago, which was scary on all kinds of levels.  The best part was the group of young ladies who came out to listen to me babble about my book.  If any of  you are reading this I just want to thank you for coming out and for sharing your great opinions.  It was nice to hear your ideas about “real life” teen novels… the verdict being that these issues are out there for you to hear about anyway so it’s a good idea to learn as much about them as you can from reliable sources.   Anyway, I didn’t get all of  your names but Tasha, Maia, Pippa and Sarah…hopefully I spelled them right…great to meet you and keep on reading!

And here we go again.  One step forward and two steps back…   Just when you have former supermodels speaking out against extreme weight loss and supporting the need for a healthy body image, someone like Kate Moss comes out with an insensitive and dangerous comment that gets sent out into cyberspace for all the world to see and hear. 

 It’s my opinion that “superstars” who are prominently in the public eye have a responsibility to the people who are watching them.  One careless statement can be grabbed hold of and made into a motto that can do harm.
